About Ambre North
What is Ambre North?
Ambre North is a Toronto-based studio with a single focus: clip-on earrings for women who don't have pierced ears. We curate every piece ourselves, judged on proportion, comfort, and how it wears through a real day.
Where are you based?
Toronto, Canada. All orders are shipped from our Toronto office.
Why only clip-on earrings?
Clip-on earrings tend to be treated as an afterthought, an oddly persistent habit in the jewelry world. We started Ambre North to give the category the same care usually reserved for pierced jewelry, so women without piercings have a real first choice rather than a workaround.
Materials
What are your earrings made of?
Our pieces are made of brass, plated with 14K or 18K gold depending on the style. Some designs include crystal pearls or faux pearls. Exact materials are noted on each product page.
Are they hypoallergenic or nickel-free?
Our pieces are made with nickel-free plating, and in practice the vast majority of our customers wear them daily without any skin reaction. We wear them ourselves, all day, with no trouble. That said, sensitivity varies from person to person. If you have a known nickel allergy, we'd suggest a short test wear before committing to a full day.
Will the gold plating fade over time?
Our pieces are plated with 14K or 18K gold over brass. The finish is chosen to hold its warmth and color across seasons of regular wear.
Like all gold-plated jewelry, the finish responds best to dry storage and to being kept away from water, perfume, and lotion. Followed loosely, the care steps on each product page keep your pieces looking like new well beyond the first year.
Wear and fit
How do clip-on earrings stay on?
Our spiral hoops hold by gently closing around the earlobe. The clip is shaped so it grips without pinching, sitting flush against the ear.
Will they hurt?
Our spiral hoops don't grip a single point the way old-fashioned clips do. They follow the curve of the lobe and rest against it, so there's no pinch. Every order also includes a soft silicone cushion that sits between the clip and the lobe to spread the pressure further. We wear ours through full days without thinking about them, and most customers tell us the same.
If you've never worn clip-ons before, your lobe may simply need a wear or two to get used to the feeling of being gently held, much like a new pair of shoes. It isn't discomfort, just unfamiliarity, and it passes quickly.
How long can I wear them?
All day. We wear ours from morning through evening, and with the included silicone cushion in place, most customers do the same without discomfort.
How do I know if my earlobes are suitable?
Our spiral hoops suit most lobe types. Fuller lobes (around 4 mm / ⅛ in or thicker) tend to hold the pair particularly well. If your lobes are on the slimmer side, the included silicone cushion fills the gap and gives you a snug, secure hold.

Care
How should I care for my earrings?
Keep your pieces away from water, perfume, lotion, and harsh cleaners. Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth after wearing. Store separately in the box provided to avoid scratching against other jewelry.
Can I wear them in the shower, swimming, or while exercising?
Short contact with water is fine, but prolonged exposure will wear the plating more quickly. We recommend removing your earrings before showering, swimming, or extended physical activity.
Where should I store them?
The box your order arrives in is designed for storage. Keep it in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and humidity. A small pouch or soft cloth wrap also works well for travel.
Shipping
Where do you ship from?
All orders are shipped from Toronto, Canada.
How long does shipping take?
Delivery times depend on destination, in business days:
North America: 5–10 days
Europe: 7–14 days
Other regions: 10–20 days
Customs duties may apply for international orders and are the customer's responsibility.
Do you provide tracking?
Yes. Every order is shipped with a tracking number, sent to your email once the parcel is on its way.
Returns and exchanges
What is your return policy?
We offer a 14-day return window from the day your order arrives. Items must be unworn and in their original packaging.
Refunds are issued to your original payment method once we've received and inspected the return.
Who pays for return shipping?
For orders within North America, return shipping is on us. For other regions, return shipping is the customer's responsibility.
If your item arrived damaged or with a manufacturing defect, we cover return shipping regardless of region.
What if my item arrives damaged?
Please write to us at hello@ambrenorth.com within 14 days of receiving your order, with a photo of the issue. We'll arrange a replacement or full refund, including return shipping.
How do I start a return?
